I mentioned this song the other day in a post about Liri Albag and the other young women who returned from captivity. It is a stunning song that touched parents all over Israel when it came out four years ago.
In this time when so many different people are worried about their children (whether they are truly young, young adults, or even grown adults and themselves parents of children)- either because they are fighting on the front, or struggling with something, or G-d forbid still in captivity- it is a song to go back to and to sing again and again, as Liri did for the mother who had been held with her in captivity (see this post for the story.)
This song is a prayer. A prayer that moves parents whether they know they believe in prayer or not-- and maybe even moves children to understand at least a little bit of the depth of a parent’s love.
And although I really like the creative translation and video I have created for this song (below), the original music video, made up of actual home videos sent to Hanan Ben Ari by fans, is as moving as the song and well worth seeing.
