A New Version of My Favorite Song

The song I bring here is the most gorgeous Israeli song I’ve heard. I truly can’t hear it enough, which is why I am sharing it again, although in a different version.

This song isn’t new. It wasn’t written in the wake of October 7th. It is not about Hanukkah.
But somehow it feels incredibly fitting, and even healing, for this moment we’re in.

This post is kind of a double “review”: a review of this song that I released just under a month ago in its most well-known version sung by Shai Tsabari. And a review of the Tamari Project, one of the most moving projects to rise quite literally from the ashes of this war. The project is named for Tamar Siman Tov who was murdered along with her husband and children in Nir Oz, and whose students keep making music in her memory and as a way to express their yearning for the return of their loved ones held captive in Gaza, a full third of whom come from the community of Nir Oz.

So here first is the newest version of Beyond Me, a Silence (MeAlay Dmama), performed by the Tamari Project.
