Unity, Not Uniformity
Two mothers of young men held captive hold differing views, and respect each other
Today I am sharing a video whose translation is not mine. I would have translated as I feel its message is crucial, but the work was done for me.
Shelly Shem Tov and Efrat Mor are two mothers whose sons, Omer and Eitan, are still being held captive in Gaza.
In this conversation, held over four months ago, they meet and discuss how each of them feel about a variety of issues. They hold very different opinions about what should be done- it seems on every level- except for two crucial things:
1)They want their sons home.
2) They believe, deeply, that they are part of one family, and, in their own words:
Shelly: "(The goal) is to learn to live with the fact that we disagree."
Efrat: "Unity (achdut), not uniformity (achidut)."
Shelly: "Exactly, We don't agree, yet we respect each other."
I believe these women are leading Am Yisrael now. Please G-d their voices will be heard.
