I don't know if I fully agree with Iris Haim, but she brings hope, and a message very worth hearing.
I’ve translated this because I do believe that in order to move past the hurtful dialogue and intense opposition that is so prevalent today (though not as present as the media would like us to think), learning to trust one another and to give the benefit of the doubt is critical.
Iris Haim, whose son Yotam hy''d was killed by IDF fire as he and two other hostages tried to escape their captivity, has as much reason to be angry, bitter and critical as anyone in Israel. And the very fact that she isn't - that her whole being is about trust and connection— makes her voice important.
And while her words, when considered on the national realm, are not simple at all- as you listen to this, consider taking her perspective and bringing it into your closest relationships- places where trusting and giving the benefit of the doubt is always a good thing - and a healing place to begin.
Also, while Iris speaks of giving her trust to the Prime Minister and the army generals- despite every reason she may have not to and them some- simply because these are our human leaders- I hear this and look upward, and take it as a lesson in faith for trusting the One for whom there truly is no other, and this too gives me hope.
